I was referred to Dr. Kevin Bushey by Dr. Brainin at UAB. Unfortunately she retired. He wouldn't renew my medications I had been on for 3 years! Super frustrating. I even sent in a request for medication for a stye. They declined they said I had to come in. I was going to Dr. Brainin for 15 years. They have my records but wouldn't call in some eye drops. I won't be going back.

I met with the doctor once in 2022 for an annual physical and the care provided was good. However, for the next year the office called to cancel and reschedule my appointments. An April 2023 appointment became an October 2023 appointment, which became an April 2024 appointment. They called to reschedule, again, in March 2024 for something later in the year. This isn't acceptable practice.

I have used UAB Inverness for many years. The staff is wonderful and I recommend Dr. Monita Singh highly. You also have access to your records and appointments through the UAB Portal. If you stay within the UAB network, all you results are available to you and all your doctors.

A Concerned Patient’s Experience

I would like to begin this review by acknowledging the professionalism and competency of Dr. Land and his team of RNs. I’ve been a patient here since I moved to Birmingham around 2017. They have consistently proven to be a beacon of support and quality care. However, I must express my dissatisfaction and concern regarding several aspects of the service I received during my recent visits.

Accessibility to Dr. Land has been a persistent issue. Although he is a commendable doctor, securing an appointment with him on short notice is a significant challenge. Regrettably, this difficulty in scheduling often leads to patients, including myself, being redirected to the clinic’s Nurse Practitioners.

On the topic of Nurse Practitioners, my encounters have been less than satisfactory. My medical history, which attests to my infrequent visits to the doctor’s office, appears to be disregarded. The unmerited perception of being a patient solely seeking medication is both disheartening and unjust. Which I fully attribute to what these doctors face day to day from those seeking such, a dilemma that can inadvertently lead to the stigmatization of patients in genuine need.

In my most recent visit, I sought help for severe abdominal pain accompanied by a fever. (Still ongoing) Despite my explicit concerns and historical context, I was advised repeatedly to seek emergency care—a suggestion not taken lightly considering a previous burdensome bill incurred from a similar referral. Not to mention I was already being referred for a CT which I was all for that’s a $2-250 copay for me.

In addition a recommendation to take medication to which I have a known allergy—a fact confirmed by the attending nurse and clearly documented in my medical records. Such oversight raises questions about the thoroughness and attention to detail in patient care and treatment protocols.

My cumulative experiences invoke a sentiment of a facility more inclined towards financial gain than the holistic and attentive care of its patients. The essence of medical practice lies in the diligent and compassionate treatment of individuals in their times of need. It is my sincere hope that these concerns are addressed to elevate the standard of care to the level every patient rightfully deserves. There was something that could be done to help me but basically being told to go home and suffer while I wait is unacceptable. Maybe the Hippocratic oath should be re-read by those individuals that may have become detached from its true meaning…

I had a wonderful visit today with Dr Singh and her staff. Sequana, who did the intake, was the bomb. Professional and charming, with a great sense of humor. Makes me happy...almost, to go see the doctor.

I have had exceptionally good healthcare from Dr. Land and his Nurse Practitioners from 2015 to the present. I highly recommend this practice if you are looking for a medical home.

I am not sure what any of the negative reviews are about (possibly anomalies) because I have had nothing but very positive experiences at the UAB Inverness location. The facility itself is extremely accessible with free parking right outside the clinic. There have always been very polite and professional receptionists, very short wait times in the waiting room, and pleasant nurses that took my general stats before seeing my doctor. Dr Lajeune has always been helpful and does not rush through the appointment by any means. To me, it has been the most positive doctor's office environment as a whole that I have ever used.

I see Dr. Land, and I really can’t say enough good things about him and his staff. They are wonderful! I always feel like he takes his time with me and really listens to what I’m saying. His nurses are super fast to respond to messages and refill requests. Everyone in the office is very friendly. They have always been very efficient, and I highly recommend them.
