As a veteran, all I can say is WOW! Was seeing a provider here for a few years. Was going great. The provider knew I had TBI, PTSD and other issues. I explained that if and when I have a migraine, its debilitating and I cannot function. Lately they have been frequent. I've had to cancel and reschedule appointments. Most of the time the appointments were by telehealth/facetime over the phone. The last appointment was telehealth, but it was a new app the provider was using. I tried five (5) times during the appointment to get it to work. I kept calling the office to let them know it wasn't working. After the 5th try, I gave up and called again. The representative stated I could not get refills on meds unless the provider saw me in person or over face chat. I had to schedule an appointment with their office in Fort Walton Beach in order to get a prescription refill. The provider was nice and the refill was complete. I had another appointment scheduled for March 25th. I called on the 24th to confirm and was told I had been "dropped" by the "owner" for no shows. She stated a letter had been sent to me as well. I tried to explain what had happened to the representative, but she had the tone and attitude of not caring. So, for a provider or "owner" to drop a client who needs medication is beyond disgusting. I never received a letter stating my care was being discontinued as a patient or I would have called as soon as I got the letter. I get notifications from USPS with pictures of mail I will receive daily, and check my mail daily. So now I have to go through the process of having to find another provider for this level of care and start the process over. If a provider is not on time to an appointment or isn't available, they are a no show as well. When I was not able to be present for an appointment or not able to call, I would call the next day to explain why, and it was always due to my debilitating migraines. Its disappointing that this happened, especially when the care was fairly easy. I definitely will not recommend BWBH to any fellow veterans and speak with the VA to have them taken off the provider list. Veterans need more understanding and better care.

My response:

When meeting with the provider no matter where I need to be, it is made clear that my combat related disability could be cause for a no call no show due to its debilitating affect. When I attempted to use the app your office instructed me to use, it would connect, but would now show the provider or myself. When I had appointments in person or using the telehealth link via email, there was never an issue and I was always on time. So a persons disability such as mine is discriminated against because I may not be able to make appointments. I am classified as being Unemployable through the VA due to the debilitating affects. I still haven't received a letter indicating that services were no longer going to be proved from your office or the VA. The VA indicated to me they have not received such letter either. Your representative who I spoke with on the phone, using cell service with no issues, indicated a letter was sent out.

I am a army disabled vet and VA has sent to over 10 doctors in 20 years then they sent me to Dr powers she and her staff are great.. I would like to let other vets know this is the Dr you need... She really cares about her patients.. she is always so nice and really cares... So if your a vet and reading this talk to VA about sending you to her... You wo t regret it... Thanks Dr powers and you staff. You guys rock

Called to reschedule my appointment due to being diagnosed with Covid at Urgent care today and receptionist stated it would be considered a missed appointment and charged accordingly per paper I had signed. If I had kept the appointment there was a chance of infecting those in the building.
Receptionist is very unprofessional and rude. I go here per Veterans administration reference.

I was very apprehensive coming in because of the limited reviews, but there seem to be very few psychiatric options in our area. I’m really glad I made the appointment - I saw Dr. Ret and she was amazing! I came in very anxious but she was so sweet and understanding and I left feeling very seen. All the rest of the staff were very friendly and efficient as well. The only downside with BBH is they don’t take Florida Blue, so just be aware of that.

To be clear the provider had an hour to spend with me and did not even know my name until 30 minutes into the session, the provider asked nothing of my medical history, reviewed none of my records, and in response to your reply I demanded nothing I asked for options of which he gave none. I left this facility feeling hopeless, helpless, and in search of a better place who is willing to spend the appropriate amount of time to learn their patient before dismissing them rudely. This is also in response to my previous review. Your male provider is rude, unprofessional, and not equipped to handle patients with complex medical histories. I would never recommend this place to anyone and to state that I demanded a medication is a false statement, I asked for options and was given not one recommendation other than taking a sustained release medication of which I have an ileostomy and cannot take. His response was well you may get some of the benefit…. that is completely unprofessional and an uneducated option. To also reply back to my previous review and state if I know any therapists send them your way with a résumé is also very unprofessional..

I'm so thankful to have found this clinic. The staff is helpful and friendly. Dr. Powers takes time with me and I never feel like she is rushing through my appointment. Unlike other mental health providers the medication management appointments are 30 minutes and she spends the time listening to my concerns and answering my questions. I have always felt heard by the staff and am always treated with professionalism. I wish that all of my doctors would treat me as well as I have been treated at Bluewater Behavioral Health. I just can't say enough about the care I have received.

Dr. Powers and team are so incredibly kind and helpful. Never have I had any issues with feeling like they were out for my money—in fact, it’s the complete opposite. She listens and her team has made receiving mental health services very streamlined. If you’re looking for a place that actually cares about their patients, I highly recommend here. Extremely reasonable and best in the area.

Great staff and providers. I saw Dr. Powers and she's very knowledgeable and great. She explains the treatment/medications in a manner that's easy for anyone to understand. My wife saw Andrea Lloyd who's newer to the practice but she's fantastic as well. Glad to have this place in our area and definitely worth the wait if they're booked out.
