Care at SMH was awesome from the time we left our car with valet until we picked it back up a few hours later. My dad had an outpatient surgical procedure that required he go home with a Foley for a few days. Staff showed us how to care for the Foley and were so good to my dad (and me too) throughout the entire process. Dr called me promptly after surgery was completed to let me know it went well and my dad was doing great. Highly recommend this hospital and their phenomenal procedures and staff. The entire process was like a scripted documentary from start to finish.

My mother was admitted on Monday this week with a GI bleed that caused her to lose 1/3 of her blood. It's now Saturday. Despite multiple calls to the hospital to request a doctor to call and let my family know what is happening, we have yet to speak with any doctor. She is being released today with no indication as to what caused the bleeding. She had to call the attendants to change bed linen multiple times--I guess no one was monitoring her? It took two days to perform one of the recommended tests and four to perform the second. Both proved inconclusive, so rather than continue to probe, they're cutting her loose. I just spoke with her and she can barely speak. I only gave one rather than zero stars because one or two of the nurses tried to be helpful. The lack of communication from medical staff is unforgivable and dangerous.
UPDATE: just spoke with a very kind doctor who heard my concerns and will try to help coordinate care. I feel a bit better. Communication solves many issues, SMH.

I made it almost 50 years without needing a major procedure, but the time finally came, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place for my operation. SMH in North Venice exceeded all expectations with its first-class, spotless facility and exceptional staff.

Though I was initially nervous, the team’s professionalism and kindness quickly put me at ease. They made the experience as comfortable and smooth as possible, and their care truly stood out. Additionally, the billing process was straightforward and affordable, which added to the overall positive experience.

I highly recommend this facility for anyone seeking top-notch care for their procedure.

Absolutely disgusted with the ER department. Took my father in for a kidney stone. The front portion of the ER is incredibly well staffed. The back portion of the is disgusting. Instead of using the exam rooms, the patients are lined up along the nursing station. I am told they are too. I counted 5 rooms out of the half of them being used them, empty. The patients have no access to call buttons, the is privacy, everything is discussed out in the open. Also transporting the patients is difficult with patients and their families waiting out in the hallway. It’s like something you see on TV of a New York overcrowded ER. However this isn’t over crowded, the rooms aren't full, it is calm and tranquil, with patients just lined up along the nurses stations because it’s what convenient, or they don’t want to do turn over on the rooms?

I've had many stays at hospitals from NM, TX, NC, and now Florida. And this was the best most caring hospital. I went in with a very bad case of the flu and high blood pressure and sugar. I don't remember the first day very much. But by the second day, I finally was alert. And the care they gave me was like family would. I was there for 3 days. And all days they listened to me. The room was like a hotel room. I am so thankful for their experience and kindness. I highly recommend this hospital.

I've got to say that this is by far the best hospital experience I've ever had. All of the people interacted with were incredibly friendly and helpful. My nurses Kelsi and Mike to the techs Grace and Sandy (I may have missed someone) to the transport people, Kevin, Taylor, Brianna and Kristi who was my discharge person were amazing. The nurse practitioners were great. The people who brought meals were awesome with their tuxedo outfits and their friendly attitude. Just a great team in a very stressful time for me and my wife.

I had a procedure that required sedation. The doctor, nurses and staff who were responsible for my care were very caring, most accommodating and very professional. They took the time to explain everything about what I could expect. The rooms were new and immaculately clean. It was a very smooth and enjoyable operation by all involved with my care. Good job. It will be my first choice when the need arises.

Was very fortunate to have outstanding care by the nursing staff. My NP was spectacular as well. This hospital truly cares for their patients as evidenced by their going above and beyond treating me with complete respect along this hospitalization. They offer great resources for once a patient is discharged as well.
