Woodlands claims to be patient oriented yet they are a complete opposite. It is just another doctor owned corporation making a lot of money. As others have said in reviews, it is true they have little to no communications with the hospitals. Once 'my' doctor referred my procedure to Sacred Heart, nothing happened for weeks until I inserted myself into the process. It ended up involving 6 different people, most of which did not talk to each other, and it was a constant 'one more thing' before scheduling. I asked to speak directly to the doctor, and he called at the end of the day the following day. I explained all the things that were going wrong with the process. Four work days later I have not heard from anyone in his office or from Woodlands. Obviously he and they did not care. Some of the staff were trying; but their system is broken and they seem to have no interest in fixing it. I gave up. There are other urologists in other towns.

They're great when you're in the office, but if you just need to reach them quickly, forget about it. When you call, you get transferred a million times and spend a significant amount of time on hold, almost always have to leave a message (if the voicemail box isn't full) and it can take them up to three business days to get back to you. If you use the online portal, the communication is also slow. If you voice any concerns or complaints, they tell you that you're hostile (I'm happy to upload screenshots of the conversations I've had with them that verify that I, in fact, was not hostile but voicing concerns that were never addressed). If you want to speak to a manager, they'll tell you that they'll have one reach out and the manager will never call you. I've managed two different medical practices and have always ensured that contact with my patients was within 24 hours, if not the same day, and if a patient requested a call back from me (as the practice manager) I was on the phone within the hour to address any concerns with my patients.

My sister has cancer in 3 areas. These doctors speak to you with their hand on the door knob. They can't schedule her to start treatment because there is only ONE scheduler. So you die while you wait! She has been trying to treat this cancer for so long it ridiculous! I am trying my best to get her moved to Sacred Heart where you can speak with people and start treatment in a timely manner. I would NEVER be treated here. I pray she lives even though they understaff. The wait lines just to check in are longer than I wait at my doctor to be seen. No nutrition or diet advice.

I started in October of 2023 trying to establish with a new Primary Care physician and it has been the most frustrating experience i have ever dealt with in the health care field. I even contacted the head person (Administration) and she informed me that my stuff was all coded wrong. I explained all of the problems I was having and thought things were gonna get better, but they didn't. I feel I could right a book about the ordeal I've had. But the just of it is, after several appts. being changed because of their scheduling conflicts, the phone systems is ridiculous. You can't contact who you need to, you have to leave a msg. and then they don't call you back for 2 to 3 days if at all. If you don't answer when they call then you have to start all over. Coding is a problem, I spent 11 months trying to get them to code something correctly so they would get paid from the insurance, felt like a job, the amount of my time spent doing it. I am not on their payroll. The lastest thing is I have been waiting 3 weeks for a prescription and I called about it after 8 days and was told by the nursing line that it was in a stack with about 40 ahead of it and that she would get to to it when she gets to it. I said we'll about how long do you think it will be. She replied I don't know, we are short handed. All I can say is our health care system in BROKEN. People use to care and it seems they just show up to get paid, they are frustrated to, so it shows in the care provided. This place has some good people working there but it is not worth the hassel's and aggrevation i have endured. It is really kinda unbelievable. I sought them out because it was owned by Physicians and I thought I would still be treated as a human, not a number for money to be made off of. I have yet to be seen when I am sick, I have tried to make an appointment but can't get in for 3 to 4 days and am offered a virtual appt. 2 days later and have to go to urgent care. They only focus on well care, ever time I have been seen it is a general appt. and they want to do screenings, labs, and set up the next appt. In 3 or 6 months and repeat labs. I want to be able if I have a sinus infection or feel really bad and think I need to see my doctor to be able to get in that day or the next but that has not happen in a year and half the 2 times I've tried. Your lucky if you get called back.

The more I go here, the more frustrating it is! So far I hand waited an hour after my appointment time
I politely asked what was happening. The receptionist at the check in desk was very nice, but I could see her struggling to explain the delay. I asked her pointedly why they would schedule like this and she finally told me it's the particular doctor. This is the 3rd time I've had to wait a ridiculously long time. I guess it's time to look for another provider which is sad because I've enjoyed this practice up until recently.

The way this practice goes about returning calls, responding to online requests and managing pre-auth on medications is laughable. If you leave a message for a call back, it's a crap shoot if they will. When you put in tickets through their portal, the tickets get closed without a resolution and require you to continue to open up tickets on the same issue. You, as the patient, get to call your insurance and then hope to get someone at woodlands to keep bouncing back and forth to find out the status and why your preauth is continuing to get rejected. At first, it was cause they didn't have the correct insurance information, which one would think you would verify the information before sending a request in multiple times. Maybe that just makes far too much sense.
This would be a 1 star review if it weren't for the people you work with and meet while in the office.

Anyone needing typical medical services should strongly consider Woodlands. One of the best aspects of their service will be found in their labs. Always punctual, but best of all, painless! Every time I've gotten labs done there, I will forget that I had been there before I get back to my car. Most other places I've had labs done it's not even close to Woodlands quality! Once you get called in and get mentally ready, you look away, then you expect "Ka-boom!" but that's not the case with these folks. Typically, by the time you look back, they are already done leaving you wondering why aren't hurting. This coming from an individual that spent 6 months of their childhood in a hospital bed, I HATE NEEDLES! Getting labs done at Woodlands is an easy thing to do. Kind, skilled, and easy to deal with. All Woodland's staff is friendly and reliable, only wishing the different areas could communicate better. Best of all, the place is always VERY clean!

My husband's experience with The Woodlands Medical Specialists was very poor. It all started with what was supposed to be a simple blood test and it ended with the doctors making unsupported accusations about my husbands alleged "NOT FOLLOWING THE DOCTORS ORDERS" After the Woodlands mishandled his bloodwork, they kept the mishandling a secret, only to have my husband labeled by the Doctors as "REFUSING TO FOLLOW MEDICAL ADVICE". He kept every appointment to receive a proper blood test, but that was not good enough. Now he has received a letter from Woodlands advising him to go somewhere else. Instead of fixing their own broken blood lab house, they blame him. While going to another blood lab he met at least two other people who had their bloodwork mislabeled also. So he is not the first one and probably won't be the last person to have his or her's bloodwork messed up. My husband is sorry that there is not a ZERO star category, because when the Woodlands Lab misidentify patients bloodwork over and over there is a problem. Moral to the story? If accurate lab work is required, DON'T GO TO WOODLANDS.
