I came in with a broken Fibula. Dr. Makimaaa treated it , and added the Laser therapy and in 3 weeks the bone was already healing.The staff are above and beyond amazing. Dr. Makimaaa is Top 10 and I recommend anyone with anything to do with foot and ankle to go see this amazing team!!

After being told that I had a traumatic sprain for 2 months, I finally got an MRI. A patient of his recommended him and he took me the next day! It was broken and he showed me where. Said if I had come in right after it happened I would have been a candidate for surgery.. but because I was healing, we just let it continue and added a boot. I was happy to just continue the process and now I just have to continue exercises but I’m sure that I am on the right track.
Dr Makimaa was firm but kind and that’s what I needed! The staff is wonderful and I highly recommend him!

We called regarding an injury to a big toe toenail (and, by the way, the office answered right away. We left a message with another foot and ankle operation....they returned our call three days later!). We were scheduled for the same day. The scheduling receptionist was very helpful and expressed a sense of urgency with the situation. She provided detailed directions on how to locate their office (very hidden). The office was bright, clean and very busy. Receptionist was very friendly. Technician did his take in prep and the doctor was right in. Nails were removed from two toes. Very detailed instructions on how to care at home with a supply of bandages that already contained medication, plus the office called in a prescription for an antibiotic immediately, which was communicated with us via our phone before we left our appointment. Before we left, an appointment for two days out was scheduled to follow up. Overall, the visit was professional, staff friendly, environment bright and clean. We have absolute confidence in the care provided. Thank you!

Dr. Maximaa and his staff operate a truly wonderful practice. The facility is clean and well laid out, they adhere to appointment times better than any medical practice I’ve been to in the Keys, and most importantly—they are expert in what they do. If you listen to their guidance and follow through with the treatment plans they give, you will get the best results imaginable. Many thanks to Dr. Makimaa and his staff of badass caregivers!

I previously saw a podiatrist who treated my issue in a very generic way. Needless to say, most nuts went by with no relief. Dr. Makimaa personalized a treatment plan specifically for me and I began feeling relief after my second visit. He knows what he’s doing, without a doubt! I highly recommend him.

Dr. Makimaa and his support staff are amazing!! The entire staff is always pleasant and professional. Dr. Makimaa is extremely thorough with diagnosis, treatment and follows up to ensure proper healing to 100%. This is the only place to go! Our family certainly knows! With sprains, breaks, achilles tendon issues, toenail removal, ligament tears, stress fracture and more... 4 athletes of our family have been in and out of Southernmost Foot & Ankle Specialists more than a few times. We trust Dr. Makimaa & team and highly recommend this practice!!!

DO NOT HESITATE TO CHOOSE THIS FACILITY!
I had a mishap while navigating stairs on the first night of my vacation. Went to ER where the doctor was useless. 2 days later, we found Dr. Makimaa who immediately diagnosed and properly treated my injury.
We called the office and were seen within 90 minutes. Upon arriving at the office, we were immediately whisked back where x-rays were performed by another outstanding physician. After another five minutes I was in with Dr. Makimaa.
Office is clean and well run- front office staff were friendly and very efficient.
Finding the location in Key West was the only difficult part as it is located behind a large strip mall, where you would never expect a business to be.
A+ 5 star best medical care I’ve actually experienced as of late. Only regret was not choosing this facility from the get go.
