Dr. Oconnor had been our family doctor for years now and we absolutely love him and his staff. I have never felt more comfortable in a doctors office... they are all so spunky, friendly, and really care. They go the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied and taken care of. If you are in need of a great doctor go to him!

Temporarily moved down here, was afraid of not being able to get into another doctors office to get my life-saving medications that I'm on, and he gladly listened, wrote everything I told him I was prescribed, and more, and had to go back the next day due to an emergency and he was helpful and didn't charge me another $115 office visit that they charge cash-payers who don't have local insurance, and his staff even gave me a paper saying everything I got done so I can send it in to my insurance and get a reimbursement check for the money I spent since they weren't able to run my out-of-state insurance. Best. Doctor. Ever! However, the front lobby staff need attitude adjustments.

My wife and i recently moved here and needed a new PCP. On our first appointment I discussed my need for pain medication with the doctor and he said he didnt have an issue with it. This is a primary concern for me because I have chronic pain that I have been living with for many years. We had the same PCP for over 20 years and he and I had the pain management under control. We have seen this doctor on two ocassions now with no problems. Suddenly the pain management is now an issue and I am in a really bad situation due to this. The doctor is polite and knowledgable. The issue is the staff. Primarily the office manager and the wife of the doctor. They are rude and condescending and will interrupt while you are talking. They both lack good communication skills and prefer not to have to explain anything. They are just tolerant until they are required to do something that is not an every day thing, then their true personalities shine through. If you like to deal with rude, condescending people then you may like it here. Medical care is too expensive for me to take that kind of crud from anyone.

I've been a patient and local resident of the Florida Keys for over 25 years. Dr. John O'Connor has been my doctor in the past and his attention to me and my problems was exceptional and he really does care for his patients. Due to the epidemic of prescription drug abuse and the fact that this doctor also specializes in pain management, I've read reviews trashing Dr. O'Connor and I'm guessing these are tourists or drug addicts who were not able to get the good doctor to write them prescriptions and they took to the web to complain. Go see the doctor and make your own choice if you think he is good or not. How do we even know the people filling out the reviews have actually seen the doctor? This doctor is a humanitarian and one of the people that amkes the Florida Keys the paradise it is.

If I could give no stars I would. I read the reviews and still went and learned my lesson that so many people could not be wrong. The brown haired lady with big diamond rings (assuming it is one of the doctor’s wives) was evil and rude. The office is so small for four doctors you are sitting right on top of each other who are sick, coughing, sneezing. Four chairs
In one small room and another four chairs in another room. The building is in so need of a painting it is unreal. Filthy actually. I would not take my dog there!

While visiting in the Keys for the winter I found myself in need of a Doctor and I made an appt to see Dr O'Conner. He was great, listened, diagnosed me and in no time I was back to normal. I can not say enough about him. On the other hand, the administrative staff is sorely deficient and in need of some training or coaching. 1) Wrongly charged me for a co-pay I was never supposed to pay with the insurance I have. 2) Sent a bill in the mail that was grossly in error as any 2nd grade student could see the math did not add up on the bill they provided. 3) Multiple calls to the office to clear it up were greeted with rude and unprofessional behavior. 4) After numerous calls they FINALLY agreed my insurance had paid them everything and THEY owed ME money. Were it not for the poor administrative staff I would have given this place 5 stars. And if I would have further need of a doctor I would return knowing the Doctor is top notch. If they have an office manager, they need a new one.
