To all that’s responsible for being over medications sham on you! My son was out for weeks! Went up there several times and called more than that. You can’t just let someone go without their medication and especially for what he’s taking it for! Very dangerous!
I’m sure you wouldn’t let a family member or friend do without so why would you someone trusting you with their life?
And still haven’t sent records over to his new doctor
They do NOT care!!!

I took my teenager here with needs that were obviously never going to be met. At first, we had a therapist who seemed like she was going to be a good fit. That we were to be scheduled weekly due to the needs that needed to be met.
The next visit, we are told she left Altapointe for another job. So then we were given a social worker who was very kind & thorough about how she conducts sessions. Agreed that we could continue on the weekly visits.Next visit comes. She is gone as well. We are given the worst possible person for my kid’s needs.
The last visit included us being told she didn’t show up that day. Then scheduled us almost a month away. She told us nothing was in the file stating weekly sessions.
We didn’t return. We found a wonderful therapist but hate we wasted a lot of time.
Be better Altapointe.

I have been going here for about two-three years now I believe. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I was going to the Talladega office- no problems what so ever. I recently moved to Sylacauga and they have let me run out of my medicine on more than one occasion. Saying since I missed my appointment that there was nothing they could do for me. But I was seeing someone at school every week that worked there (they just came to the school) so I thought that was all I had to do. I would sometimes go to see my therapist and just tell them i needed a refill and they would refill it. So I thought that was all I had to do. NOPE! Turns out I've been missing appointments with the nurse practitioner that I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT! i didn't know I had to have them. SO since "I've missed too many appointments" they won't refill my medicine. I have suicidal thoughts and get upset very easily- and now all of that is back because I couldn't get an appointment for 2-3 months. I am also experiencing withdraws as well as my depression coming back. I feel so sick that I have to lay in bed everyday. I have no appetite, I sleep all the time, I can't drive because I am too Dizzy, etc. I told them all of this. They told me there was nothing they could do and that I had to go to the ER if i was feeling bad. Like what?!?!?! The ER will only refill the medicine so many times. THIS OFFICE HAS LET ME DOWN and I do not recommend them to anyone who needs medicine on a daily basis in order to function.

Absolutely the worst place to seek any mental help from. They do not listen to you, and just talk behind your back. They share personal and confidential information about their patients without them knowing. When it comes to actually wanting help and explaining your situation they will belittle you. God help if someone truly needs help in a crisis because they could care less. They have done me wrong many many times and I will NEVER go back.

Went there for years. Not a good place to get help. They change employees and staff very often because they can't seem to keep anyone. I requested a Psychiatrist and they couldn't refer or recommend anyone. They don't prescribe medication to help anyone.
I moved to NC and got help right away. All the years I had spent at AltaPointe begging for help with useless, wasted time.

Since Altapoint bought out Cheaha, the service has went downhill fast. I went from being able to talk to a live person in his office to a person on the computer screen/ I was not very happy about not being able to make a human contact face-to-face. The reception staff is extremely rude and made me upset every time I signed in for therapy. I told my husband he may have to bail me out of jail if she rolled her eyes at me one more time! Still trying to cope with the RUDE issues, I would go to my appointments only to be told the time had been changed, but no one had notified me. My time is just as important as their time and they could at least do their jobs. I would NOT recommend this facility to anyone.

In my personal experience involved my son. He has been hospitalized on numerous occasions and was diagnosed with multiple disorders by Brookwood Psychiatric hospital. We were referred to Cheaha, which is now Alta Pointe .I was told by the crisis person that he was not severely mentally ill enough for the sliding scale pay. He would have to pay full price for counseling, meds and to see the therapist. Being that he lived with me and had no jib due to his illness he could not nor could I afford to pay their fees. The hospital would only write about 30 day supply of meds and I had to pay full price. I could bot afford to continue paying for meds and treatment so he has spent the past 6 mos in and out of half way houses until his disorders causing anxiety attacks caused him to be kicked out of their programs. He spent weeks living in abandon houses because he felt he had no where to go. I found him after searching for several weeks in jail for trespassing on private property .He is now back home and I am desperately searching for somewhere other than Alta Pointe to help him. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Terrible staff and when I tried to explain his schizophrenia behaviors and depression, they acted as if I was just lying. And to add the crisis person was ordered to go to the jail where my son was being held to do a mental eval. Sge was ordered twice by the judge and after me going to her office multiple times and after 3 mos she finally went. She stated " I think you should just let him fet a job or maybe you should just put him out of your home". I hope this helps anyone that is considering getting treatment there.

They never answer their phones and do not call in prescriptions when you need them.
