Some of the best care I have received in my life. It's unfortunately not close to me, so I do have to make the trip out, but it's worth it for the care. The reasons I had to go were unfortunate but the care was outstanding. I remember around 2013 was one of my first experiences there and the nurses were so attentive and kind, it made the immense pain I was in bearable. This week I had to go back for pain as well and my nurse, I believe her name is Devi, was the absolute best. She actually saw me as a human in pain and sympathized with me, rather than just seeing another room or another bed to clean up. I will say the doctor barely made an appearance and never came back which felt weird, but Devi's care was outstanding. Also the X-ray tech was such a delight. She handled me with such care, helped me get into the bed for my scans and was so sweet I could cry (especially comparing the awful experience I had at Kaiser a few nights prior). I'm truly grateful for the nurses here, they make being sick just a tiny bit bearable. The kindness they exhibited have me so delighted with their staff. I'm still recovering, but I had to share my experience because it was such a good one (even being in immense pain). Thank you to Devi, the nurses who helped check me in, and the kind X-ray tech for making me feel seen and valued as a patient.

My mom (92yrs old) and I visited MHC for quite sometime doing a lot of test requirements from our health provider and we never had any untoward issues and treatment from the staffs of various departments we’ve been to. Job well done.

The customer service is terrible. The lady at the front desk is very rude. The only good experience was signing in with the security. I swear if I was ever in an emergency setting this is the last hospital I would go to…they have no empathy like human life means nothing to them

The valet parking service made me feel upset. A guy didn’t want to come and help at the beginning, then asked me why I need to put on my mask when I arrived, and he also said if I continued wearing my mask, he will refuse to park my car because he needs to protect himself. OMG! So why about other people who have to come to the health care center? Is there nobody wearing masks in the center? Or just because the guy found that I’m an Asian?

My daughter has a wart that she needs removed because it causes her discomfort and pain. Spent near 4hours for the Dr. to come and see it for 2minutes and do basically nothing while she tells me to use tape. But she did remind me that it's illegal for her provider not to see her because they're fully booked and she didn't see us either...

Today was my 2nd time seeing Monica Laimayum for a Physical. The 1st was similar to today.

Storytime...

I booked an appointment for a Physical & Pap Smear. When I arrived, the Nurse stated that this Doctor wouldn't do both. So I chose the physical rather than the pap smear do to inflammation, and other concerns.

Pros:

The Nurse took the vitals/weight. Dr. Laimayum asked questions based off of everything she could see in the computer. Got caught up on allergy medication information. I advocated for myself based off information that I googled, she requested certain blood work/labs. She did refer me to see a few other Doctors.

Negatives:

I asked her about the inflammation and the uncontrollable weight gain, She stated," After 40 (yrs old) it's just gain, gain, gain."

I asked her about doing the "actual physical." She literally said, "yeah but first, I have to ask you questions." 🤔 Whelp,
... I guess that was the physical. Because, she NEVER physically examined me!
She took the stethoscope from around her neck put it on my chest and that was it. She walked out the door, and SENT the discharge nurse in with the paper work.

Maybe she doesn't respect/like me? Maybe she has issues with African American people? Maybe she thinks that my skin is dirty? Maybe she doesn't believe that African Americans deserve a certain standard of care. I don't know what the issue is. I don't know if this happens to everyone, or just me. But I looked it up the expectations that you should have for a Physical. We discussed everything with a ✅. Everything with an ,❌ she did not do.

This is what I learned..

When going to the doctor for a physical, you can expect the following:

✅Medical History Review: The doctor will ask about your medical history, including past illnesses, surgeries, medications, and family health history.

✅Vital Signs Check: Measurement of blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and respiration rate.

✅General Appearance Examination: The doctor will observe your general appearance, noting any signs of potential health issues.

✅Heart and Lung Exam: Using a stethoscope, the doctor will listen to your heart and lungs to detect any abnormalities.

❌Head and Neck Exam: Examination of your eyes, ears, nose, throat, lymph nodes, and thyroid.

❌Abdominal Exam: Palpation and listening to sounds in your abdomen to check for abnormalities.

❌Neurological Exam: Testing reflexes, muscle strength, and neurological functions.

❌Skin Examination: Checking for skin abnormalities, such as moles or rashes.

❌Extremities Exam: Assessing the condition of your joints, bones, and muscles.

✅Lab Tests: Blood work and urinalysis might be ordered to check for various conditions.

❌Gender-Specific Exams: For men, a testicular exam and prostate exam; for women, a breast exam and pelvic exam.

✅Immunization Review: Checking if your vaccinations are up to date.

✅Health Advice: Discussing lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, smoking, and alcohol use.

✅Follow-Up Plan: Recommendations for any further tests or specialist visits if necessary..
