Avoid!!! 18 months after seeking care at 8th Element for recovery from a gender-affirming surgery with the understanding that my treatment had been covered by my health insurance policy at United Healthcare, I received an email today billing me for $8,000. This is after UHC paid them over $26,000 for my service. The email said that 8th Element only accepts checks or wire transfers. If you, like me, are a trans person who *never* has $8,000 in your bank account, stay away from this place and their sketchy billing office.

I first became aware of hyperbaric oxygen therapy when one of my clients mentioned it after her breast augmentation, which had complications. Her doctor recommended oxygen therapy, stating it would aid in her healing process. After undergoing the treatment, she reported significant improvement in her surgical site.

Before my scheduled vaginoplasty, I contacted 8th Element and spoke with Judy. She informed me that I would need a referral from my doctor's office to initiate treatment, so I reached out to Dr. Bowers' office, and they sent over the necessary information.

Many people associate hyperbaric oxygen therapy with post-procedure complications, but I chose to pursue treatment right after my surgery to expedite my healing process. Judy documented my progress with before-and-after photos over the course of 16 sessions, and I can confidently say that the healing results were remarkable; the swelling and bruises, which are normal after surgery, diminished quickly.

Post-surgery, I had difficulty walking, but the staff was incredibly supportive, always providing a wheelchair and assisting me when needed. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Trenton, Shay, Julia, Hugo, Toshi, Judy, Regina, and the entire staff for their genuine kindness and compassion. Your support made a significant difference in my recovery!

I had a wonderful experience at 8th Element. I’m claustrophobic so I was terrified of HBOT treatment. Thankfully 8th Element uses a spacious room instead of a capsule and always has an attendant with you. This facility is the only one who provides this type of treatment in the Bay. The staff are also amazing!

My 1st appointment to the chambers was yesterday for 1 session and it was an experience. I have to say Judy was very professional and pleasant to work with. The techs was great too. The only setback I would like to see is while in the chambers to have a timer between breaks and count down so you have an idea how long more you have to be inside.
I’m going for a double session tomorrow. Wish me luck?
I have to say I feel great today since I had surgery on Thursday 4/15.

2.4 ata is the best hyperbaric in a large room like chamber around the bay area.

Very nice and very helpful staff. Super friendly, super chill, really accommodating. They feel like a pillar of support during a gnarly postoperative recovery process, and I'm grateful. Ideally I don't have to come back again after recovering, but it's comforting to know they are around.

Everything was fine until it wasn't. After I started treatment they tell me there is a possibility I could have blurry vision after this but rare. Well now I have blurry vision and they act like it is my fault. Problem here is most the staff are so nice, until you complain about vision loss.
Lady who runs the place claims to have told me about this prior and when I told her she didn't she became extremely rude.
