Nicest medical facility I’ve ever stepped foot in, my MRI appointment was fast and the staff were very inviting. Scheduling my appointment was seamless over the phone. The MRI room itself was fitted with a TV and speakers so that I could relax and watch sports during the actual MRI scanning. My MRI reports were ready after only a few days. Afterwards, I was able to have my MRI results shared with me by the doctors at SoCal Injury Treatment Center, the medical facility right beside the MRI one.

Not a day has gone by over the last few months that i have not thought about my experience with Spectrum, which was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a health care provider. They initially agreed to accept $4000 for the services they rendered, but a few weeks letter, Spectrum sicced their lawyer on us. Their lawyer threatened to file suit, if we did not send them an additional $1000. To avoid a lawsuit, we reluctantly agreed to pay the extra $1000. Somehow we were coerced into paying $5000 for services that Spectrum specifically agreed to accept $4000.

I am an attorney and one of my accident clients went to Spectrum MRI. They hired an aggressive lien negotiator, and ended up charging my client $3500. This is part of an email that I received from spectrum's lien negotiator when I requested a discount:
"Thanks, but you first just slid over the CC3040 improper assertion to extort a recovery – whether it is negligent or intentional, either way it’s pretty much a slam dunk."

Here is another email from Spectrum's lien negotiator:
"That would indicate that there was some proper basis on your end or your clients. There is none. You have improperly asserted CC3040, among other breaches of fiduciary duty. That has given rise to additional claims on top of the lien damages itself. And, the patient owes the bill regardless of the outcome of the case and at no point did you ever indicate any problem with the bill or services, and in fact you used them in full offensively for the recovery in the case. Any additional time and cost is only increasing what the patient would owe, and of course, affects the additional claims as noted.

Your conversation about a mediator I would suggest fall more with your client and as to your office, who has exposure your client now to higher personal exposure. You have a duty and obligation to in fact disclose that to your client, and how your client approaches that as to their own attorney would be up to your client.

Here, you and your client were given an avenue, even a compromise by the Center which was not required and to be honest is more than should be done given the illegality by counsel as noted. Nonetheless, the offer was made as noted.

At this point, it is a simple “yes” you are in agreement, or “no” you/your client will not pay and “no” you will not Interplead and then a formal action for everything would be commenced at this time, along with “all appropriate remedies” given the trust account breaches and CRPC Rule 1.15 violations."
