It's incredibly frustrating trying to establish contact with this office. Since the beginning of this year I have made multiple phone calls to number provided on their website. No one ever answers!!! I have very important questions about health coverage that require speaking with someone who can help me. I am now retired after 35 years of service. I feel disappointed, disheartened and completely dismissed by our Health Service member support service or there lack of. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who are experiencing the same situation.

Horrible and not responsive! I am a surviving spouse and they have zero email!! No response using the voicemail. This is when I have to decide whether to agree with changing to Blue Shield as they are forcing this on the only other option which is Kaiser!
I wish to keep United healthcare . Can I stop
Blue Shield? Will I be able to still draw my pension? I can perhaps pay out of pocket? I want to continue with United Healthcare

Our family was given the runaround for weeks when seeking assistance to remove our son from the health plan for an urgent health matter (dual coverage situation). It’s virtually impossible to reach a live person by phone. We were given conflicting information based on who we spoke with. At one point, we were told to: “Write a letter asking for a benefits change exception.” When we asked who to address it to, we were told “management” with no other instructions (i.e. fax, e-mail). Ultimately, their lack of communication and care cost my son timely care.

I have been calling the SFHSS for 3 days and nobody answer except a recording asking to be patience because of staff shortage., this happen since 3 years ago because of Covid. Sometime it just get disconnected and other times request to leave a message. I did leave a message when allowed but nobody responded yet.
They claim they work more at home than in the office but is been 3 days and several messages and no call back.
I would personally visit the office or make an appointment if they call back.
Honestly, things get done if they are at the office than working at home! Very disappointing!

This agency provides health benefits for all City workers and retirees. With our families, there are a lot of us - over 110,000. But when I call or go in to the office people are kind and do their best to help me navigate the crazy world of health insurance. I am very grateful for the good benefits we get from the City.
