I was referred to Lumen Health by Sutter Medical Foundation, and boy what an outfit this place is! Having already been dumped by 4 tele-therapists, I am certainly not going to take my chances with these people who call themselves "therapists." I have been around long enough to know that I will get a better response by calling a NAMI soft line once in a while. Buyer be ware

First, let me say the receptionist is beyond rude and it is clearly a massive problem considering how many other reviews mention what how awful she is.

Second, my therapist clearly had an agenda and did not want to stray from what she wanted to do. She wasn't very kind or understanding, and when I had a rough day and just wanted to talk instead of go through her agenda she pressured me to cancel the appointment even though we had already started the appointment.

When I emailed and asked for another therapist (I asked for someone who did appointments after 5 or on Thursdays) all the receptionist did was say they don't do appointments after 5pm and completely ignored my other option, which is Thursdays.

This was such a terrible experience I cannot warn people enough to avoid this terrible practice, and I am filing a complaint with Kaiser.

The Admin/Receptionist is astonishingly rude and unprofessional. I'm honestly surprised she has a job. The counseling I received was mediocre and I wasn't all that impressed. After my first appointment I questioned whether to continue. I think I've had 4 appointments now - at which time I decided to find someone new. When I called to cancel my on-going appointments I knew immediately that I had made the right decision. The Admin/Receptionist gave me a deep sigh when I asked her a question... she was obviously very bothered that I had called and had her do some work! Lumen Health needs an overhaul.

I am big on first impressions. The admins attitude is terrible. It’s like doing the job she’s supposed to do is a chore. When dealing with mental health services one would assume the first point of contact is someone with a pleasant disposition as they don’t know what state of fragility you may be in. For this alone, I would never seek services here.

The therapist Dr Illgen was good, but the receptionist was ghetto rude and not knowledgeable at all. After several dealings with her, I can no longer trust lumin health. If they hire people like that then it reflects poorly on their business practice and professionalism and with this type of work that is unacceptable. Will never use them again.

I saw this therapist here only twice and I knew she was a bad therapist (at least for me). She insisted on imposing her agenda on me instead of listening to my story and allowing a psychodynamic exchange. The worst thing was when I told her my No. 1 traumatizing event, she laughed because she said she was imagining me in that position and apparently thought it was comical. In my opinion, she's in the wrong line of work. She didn't act like a therapist at all. She had zero empathy.

My willingness to give Lumen Health only one star is due to an observation of an interaction between a particular member of my family and a representative of this questionable business. The interaction leads me to the following observation:

No matter with whom you're interacting, on a business level, it is beneficial to observe specific conduct. After all, not every professional who represents a business has your best interest at heart. Therapists offer a service which, by it's very nature, has the potential to create an illusion. By default, the illusion is that he/she must absolutely have an unequivocal interest in your overall well being. Of course, this isn't always the case. As with any profession, there are those who intend to treat you fairly, as well as individuals who's intentions are less than satisfactory.

In conclusion, my personal recommendation, when presented with a contract, is to tread lightly, be observant, and be aware of the possibility of such an illusion. By engaging with Lumen Health, you'll likely find yourself signing a contract which imposes upon you a specific, but questionable, financial obligation. This written agreement, which is a prerequisite to treatment, is legally binding. You may want to explore the possibility of seeking therapy elsewhere, rather than jeopardizing your financial security.

I am a doctor. It is my ethical obligation to warn the public about Lumen Health and Psychological Services, This is a corrupt organization. The staff fraudulently created fictitious diagnosis in order to bill for services. When I reported to management, I was appalled at the director who was supervising one of the social workers. This organization only cares about $$. Consumers beware. Make sure to report all corruption to licensing boards.
