I normally don’t write bad reviews of businesses, however this time I will make an exception as the service I have received has been terrible. I have never had a doctor’s office cancel two appointments in a row on me. Then when I try to get the appointments re-scheduled so I can get treatment, the office manager Jackie treats me as if I am bothering her. I was diagnosed previously with lymphedema and was told that Dr. Amin could do a procedure that would increase the blood flow in my legs. This would reduce swelling, redness and help heal the open wounds that I had on my legs. According to doctors and nurses I have spoken with if the wounds don’t get blood flow they won’t heal properly. The issues with this office as I see it are as follows:
1) I was scheduled for a venus ablation procedure which required a company rep to deliver materials and be present during the procedure. On the day of the procedure the company rep “flaked” and never showed up forcing the procedure to be cancelled. I was literally lying on the operating table with heart monitors on my chest, an oxygen sensor on my right finger and a blood pressure monitor on my left arm when I was told the procedure was cancelled.
2) The procedure was re-scheduled for two days before Thanksgiving a few weeks later. It was scheduled for 12:00 PM. About 9:30 AM I received a call from Joanna who worked at the front desk. She informed me that the procedure was once again cancelled as the surgical tech who prepares the patients for operations called in sick and they had no backup.
3) Prior to the scheduling of the venus ablation, the doctor had believed the issue was in the artery, not the veins and attempted to perform a procedure to clear the artery in my leg. He realized during the procedure that the artery was fine, and nothing further could be done that day as there was no issue with the artery. If they had found a blockage, they would have zapped it with a laser.
I had first been referred to VIP when my podiatrist sensed that my issues might be caused by poor blood flow in the legs. He asked me to have an ultrasound done by the company they use and the ultrasound confirmed there was an issue. They sent the ultrasound results to Dr. Amin. After the first procedure, Dr. Amin realized the issue wasn’t in my artery and ordered another ultrasound done on my veins. The ultrasound clearly showed “venus insufficiency” which was very poor blood flow in the legs. After several months I was told that my insurance company CIGNA had approved the venus ablation procedure after denying a more expensive procedure that they claimed was experimental. As stated above the procedure was cancelled twice leaving my leg more swollen and painful as time went on. From the time I first contacted VIP it has been 7 months, and nothing (except diagnostic) has been done. I feel that they have failed me badly. I met Dr. Amin, and he seems like a smart and decent guy, so I am scratching my head as to how this went so wrong. Also, I don’t want to give you the impression that there aren’t some good people working here. Erlong who works at the front desk seems like a decent guy just trying to help.
