The folks they put behind glass in the ER really need better training on how to talk to people in pain. I politely asked for an update after sitting in the waiting room in agony for 3.5 hours and not only was not offered any kind of update or estimated wait time, but LAUGHED AT. This man took on a diabolical “poor baby” tone and made fun of me for not being able to wait 3 hours when someone else had been there for 5. I just needed to lie down because sitting was making my pain worse. I left and gave up on treating my potentially life threatening condition. They finally called saying there was a room available after I would have been sitting in there for 6 hours. The care I received after this was acceptable, but the experience I had with that receptionist dude made my night way worse than it had to be. It was my last straw mentally after dealing with the pain, and I could not stop crying. Please train your staff better.

Took a few months to make an appointment (my procedure needed to be done at certain time of the month), but once I got my appointment, everything was smooth and organized. Extra kudos to Jacqueline and Dr.Triboni (spelling?) in the radiology department. They were comforting, supporting, personable. They explained everything all the steps and made my anxiety disappear!

Nothing but good things to say about the care here. I was admitted to an out of the area hospital in March and the care here was so much better. Yes the ER is crazy but the Dr. made the right call to admit me. The hospitalist was great and got me stable so I could get the corrective surgery at CPMC 6 weeks ago. The nurses were exceptional. Even though I could not really eat - the meal system was the best. Other than they are busy I cannot understand what you could find wrong!!

They gave the patient a cracked unrinal bottle and it spilled all over the bed. Then the Nurse who we asked for help from gave him a towel and said he'll get him a pair of pants while trying to play it off like the patient didn't close the cap when you can see a cut 3-4 inches long on the bottle. The patient sat on his feet for over 20 minutes with all the wires, electrodes and IV hanging from him, while the nurse worked on the computer. When we asked for help again he said he'll get it without even lifting his eyes off the screen. Then someone come into take a signature for billing while the patient still had pee on his fingers. And the nurse finally decided to bring some clothes and pulled all the electrode pads off his chest like he was upset or something. Worse experience ever. Maybe the nurse is having a bad day? But then again that sounds like a personal problems that he should have left at home.

Overall, I truly believe the underpaid and short staff is doing their very best practices at Sutter Regional Hospital .I believe that the corporate office needs to hire more full time residents to keep up with the growing demands of the regional center. Having only two M.D's during a busy day of hundreds of patients in the E.R is undue stress on the staff and doctors. Making a patient wait more than the statutory threshold of five hours is unacceptable.. This being said , forgetting to re-program a pacemaker after an MRI, causing another visit of sleepless night to the patient, their caregiver and the busy hospital is a prime example of over-worked staff. The administration needs to address the needs of the staffing community in their hospital. Listen to them! Create more positions and give up some corporate profits to the hard working members of your Sutter Regional Hospital Independent service providers getting 16 hours a week as M.D's is unacceptable after eight years of Medical school. They get to eat and pay their student loans? Hire the best on and give them an employee package worth competing for or it will get worse, like no self-respecting doctor will put up with abusive administrative practices. We do not need the doctors going on strike, but I feel a motion to strike rolling down the pipes. Administration's best practice is to take the heat with grace and demonstrate the respect for the pains of change!!!!

My daughter had her baby here and the nurses Denise and Nancy were amazing they went above a beyond there job and to all the doctors and other nurse what a great experience welcoming my granddaughter thankyou ❤️❤️

Update: Radhika your " research" into this situation was not thorough. This IS THE HOSPITAL. He's currently admitted. The drs tell the other hospitals that do transplants their assessments. To my knowledge UCSF wouldn't see him due to this hospitals assessment. Now they are trying to get him to turn off his pacemaker and sign a do not resuscitate order which he declined multiple times. His wife had to threaten with her families attorney to have them stop bringing it up again.
My brother has been ill for a very long time and they have been taking care of him recently. I do not live close by and so I have been hearing through the family mixed details of his condition. I called and requested a Dr call me to let me know directly or a nurse. (Nurses are unable to let me know I was told and my brother gave the hospital consent to talk to me.) I never recieved a call so I cancelled my patients and flew out the next day because I heard he was extremely ill. THIS IS NOT WHY I'M GIVING ONE STAR. this next situation at the hospital is why. My family was under the impression my brother was getting a heart transplant. When the Dr arrived I asked exactly what is going on. Is he to iIl for the transplant?Why isn't it being done and what is his prognosis? The Dr began very calmly explaining how sick my brother is. He then said he is terminal which we knew without a transplant. I asked when he was getting one because he's been doing so poorly lately. He explained that he is NOT a candidate for a transplant. This shocked all of us. All this time we were under the impression we were waiting for him to get a plastic heart transplant that would keep him alive. Not a human heart but a device that is man made. After his statement of course my sister in law began peppering the Dr with questions and the obvious why why why. Etc etc. The Dr kept repeating not a candidate with no explanation then finally appeared annoyed by her questions and told her almost word for word " the hospital will not put a hundred thousand dollar device in someone that acts like a five year old" I will add that he has been suffering from renal failure and it causes the mind to become confused. I'm sure there is more reasons as to why he is not a candidate but that comment just shows that in a nut shell its about the money. His tone was inappropriate my mother cried and thinks it's because my brother is poor. Like I said I'm sure there is more to it but his delivery regarding letting a family know that he will die within the year and there is nothing they are willing to do other than keep him comfortable was so inappropriate. The NURSES the STAFF particularly the DIALYSIS NURSES ARE SO AMAZING. The staff encouraged us to report the drs outburst. A second team of doctors came in and told us something totally different as to why he wasn't a candidate within the space of a half hour so I understand why my family was confused. They encouraged us to not take him anywhere else. One stated it would be a waste of our funds with most likely the same result. I asked about medical tourism and they scoffed which I understand but he will DIE if left to these drs decisions. So in the end their advice to us is Worthless because they decided my brother was not a candidate. Reasons given To us were.. He has neuropothy not knowledgeable about his condition and dual organ failure. I'm willing to donate a kidney. Those were the reasons given to us as to why the decision to save a young man's life will not be reversed.
The only good thing about the original drs frustrated outburst is that I now know this one small tiny medical hospital doesn't think my fifty year old brother deserves a second chance and so if he gets strong enough to leave that place I can take him somewhere else for a fresh start knowing some of the things they want to see in a transplant patient. It should be required by the hospital that they inform you in detail and have you sign exactly what is required of you...the patient in order to get a heart transplant.
