Great staff, positive experience. Was treated with great dignity and respect. As someone who hates hospitals as much as being a patient, I have to say the Doctors, Nurses, and Techs made me feel as comfortable as was possible for the situation. They were caring and courteous but also didn't make me feel rushed. I feel I had a very positive experience for a visit to the ER.

The receptionist with short hair on 9/7/2024, could not have been ruder to me. I spoke to someone earlier in the week and they told me to come back in to get my daughter a follow up Xray, but since they didn't make future appointments and just next day appointments to wait until Saturday to go in. On Saturday, I was going to see if there was a walk in or an appointment on Monday since they aren't open Sunday that is next day. The woman informed me that they don't make next day appointments or take walk ins even though that is not what I was told on the phone. The miscommunication is fine- the rude interaction was not.

UPDATE-> The office totally remedied the situation and was super professional in their follow up. Everyone else was super nice at the office throughout. Just one poor interaction and situation but all of the other care and communication was great.

9/6/2024 This place needs to UPDATE their Google site in general. It would be REALLY HELPFUL to clarify how this place is set up to cut down on the confusion. They need to make it very clear that this place is 2 CLINICS IN 1. On one side is an independent doctor's office & on the OTHER side is the independent URGENT CARE CLINIC. The UC hours may or may not be correct on Google but I believe they are: 8–6 Mon – Fri and 9–4 on Sat.

NOTE: THIS IS THE ONLY URGENT CARE IN ATASCADERO THAT ACCEPTS MEDICARE *AND* CEN-CAL!!! (Too many Atascadero residents (I was one) think they have no choice but to drive all the way down to SLO or all the way up to Paso for urgent care!)

This UC needs to change and/or list the following in bold font:

● CHANGE THE OLD OWNER-TAKEN PHOTO TO ONE FROM 2024. THE OLD PHOTO SHOWS THE NAME OF THE CLINIC AS – "MEDLINE"! (I was told by the staff that Medline is *not* the name.)

● SHOW THE CORRECT HOURS.

● MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THE UC CLINIC IS TOTALLY SEPARATE FROM THE DR'S OFFICE.

● UNLIKE MOST UC CLINICS – YOU MUST CALL & MAKE AN APPT FIRST!

● IF YOU ARE A NEW PATIENT, YOU WILL NEED TO ARRIVE 20 MINUTES EARLY TO FILL OUT FORMS.

● THAT THEY D O ACCEPT MEDICARE AND CEN-CAL INSURANCE.

I came in for urgent care and the red ish haired lady at the front desk informed me that they were closing early for meetings which is fine. I also see dignity health for my primary so I was going to ask if I could make a appointment with one of the doctors and she rudely cut me off and said they don’t do appointments for urgent care… which was not what I was going to ask. I am sick I don’t like going to the doctors but if I have to go something must really be wrong so to be as sick as I am and treated that way I feel horrible and it just makes me really upset I’ve never left a review for a place before so … I guess that’s enough said

Just not helpful and want to hurry you out, prob a waste of time and energy for you to come in here. Hate to go into it but... they misdiagnosed a bad case of covid for just allergies or a cold. Had severe aches, chills, chest pain, etc and was bed ridden for 3+ days with a fever over 100. Never had that from allergies. No idea how their equipment didn't catch the fever. Had all those symptoms while there. PA was supposed to call in at home tests to the pharmacy but according to Rite Aid never did (she told me insurance would cover them which she was also wrong about). No help after testing positive had to go Teledoc (not much better) just to get some cough medicine. Shame on me for not just going straight to the home test, but I'd still hope for an illness like that the urgent care down the street could be of help. Not this one.

I came in because I had a strep throat, but after completing my paperwork, I could not be seen because my United healthcare insurance card showed I was part of coastal community physician network, and Dignity has no contract with CCPN. I tried to explain to the receptionist that my insurance is not limited to CCPN, and this was an urgent care. But she told me that was company policy. So suggest Dignity out a sign that says urgent not for CCPN network patients.

Went in to the Urgent care to have my husband seen for Covid to possibly get medication as soon as I walk in the front office girl was very very rude asked what my husband needed to be seen for with the worst attitude I’ve ever gotten at any sort of medical office and I said he tested positive for Covid and her words were “if he tested positive already then why are you here?” I then responded we would like to see if he’s eligible for the medication (there’s certain criteria you must meet as far as risk factors which we were aware of and my husband does have some of those) and I mentioned to her I just got the medication there a few days ago when I first had Covid and her response was “Well is there a reason why he would need it? There’s criteria to it I bet you have health issues which is why you got it don’t you?” I felt like she was judging me because I’m overweight and she was questioning my medical history without me being the one needing to be seen all this out loud while there was another patient in the office completely violating my privacy. She then proceeded to tell me how the medication is county funded and he’s not eligible…we never asked for hand outs we have private insurance that we pay for and have copays we gladly pay when we go in…it just seemed like she was assuming we were there for a free handout. We would’ve gladly paid for the medication in full if needed. So sad that this was my husbands first visit at this office which I had told him so many great things about since I see Kristen here as my regular physician who is awesome and all other staff have always been nice to me…he saw the completely opposite of that, someone judgmental, rude and unwelcoming. I like Kristen so much I’m willing to stick it out but my husband will be looking elsewhere for a primary Physician since he was treated so poorly by this staff member today.

I have had one visit and my husband has had two visits to the urgent care. All of our visits at urgent care were due to our PCP being unavailable. We were able to be seen in a timely manner, the staff was thorough and courteous, and the treatment was kind and professional. The treating professional was a Nurse Practitioner, and her manner was kind, friendly and thorough at each of our encounters. One of my husband's visits involved a necessary triage to the emergency room due to the findings of his chest x-ray, and the staff worked together to discharge us quickly for the trip to the ER. I would recommend this Dignity Health Urgent Care in Atascadero to anyone who needs care and is unable to see their PCP or does not have a PCP.
