I heard a lot of horror stories and when I found out my son was being transferred there a lot of folks had negative things to say that placed a lot of fear in me !! I just want to say and clear the air. Today I visited the hospital and seen first hand how well taken care of my son actually is and my visit today gave me the reassurance I needed ! The staff there was really helpful and pleasant they showed cared and compassion that is so hard to find now days ! When I went for my first visit with him today I was not sure how things worked so I came to the main entrance of hospital like I was instructed by my son to do ! Once there the second shift ladies who worked the front desk were very friendly and helpful walking me through visitation step by step ! I was nervous and had not seen my son in over year so a lot of anxiety coming in to visit for first time in such a long time ! The officer whitehead and the front desk ladies that were there to assist me was very understanding ,as well as patient with me ! This brought me a lot of comfort and relief in my option they are the type of individuals anyone would want to be taking care of a loved one ! Friendly and helpful and they made my visit the best possible for me and my son ! So if u have a loved one going for care or treatment at this hospital don’t believe the bad reviews or be so quick to judge go see for urself I am sure u will be amazed at what u find ! Like me u will see that they have great staff and this is a good hospital with great care for patients! Good job guys keep up the good work and thank u so much for ur service !

I went to Bryce in 2002-2004 I hated the place when I was there I was sent there for extreme PTSD. However I had went to 30+ places similar this was the final place the staff was great and they helped me overcome a psychotic breakdown. In one of the reviews some one said they were the youngest there is a minor ward I was only 14 but I wasn't the youngest. Everyone hates places like this however I would have never came back to reality without them. I don't know if they read these reviews and the staff is probably all gone but thank you for everyone who works there y'all are heros.

I can honestly say I was a patient here. I was at the old Bryce when I was 19-21 and it was the most horrible place I have ever been. Patients would attack other patients and harm others very badly. I had praying parents I think that is the only reason I was safe. I don't intend to return to this place Ive been out for 11 years. The staff did attack other patients not all of them but some. Some of the patients would harm staff and they would retaliate on them. They had me so doped up I couldn't walk and I was being bathed and in a pull up. My mom came and saw how doped up they had me and threatened a law suit then they took me off of all that. I recovered from the high sedation. I wont go back here I would die than go back here. Its just like prison because its unsafe , nasty cafeteria food and your locked up. I absolutely hate this place with a passion.

I was admitted into Bryce in 2017. I witnessed multiple abuse cases and a patient died due to "choking" . I was one of the youngest people at Bryce. I was admitted when I was 18. Spent my 19th birthday there they don't allow you to refuse your medicine because if you do you'll get a "cocktail" ( adavain, haldole, benadryl , thoraziene. All mixed up in shot form.) The staff think it's ok to have sexual relationships with the patients and steal from them. I was relised and sent to a group home that I recently left. The staff members are rude and if you need help they act like you're bothering them. I was one of the lucky ones that got to leave and wasn't stuck there.
If any of y'all know a lady named Mary Cardwell or Terrie Boulton or Jerica Meadows they are there and don't deserve to be. There treated the worst out of everyone. Please visit your loved ones and head them out if they are here.

I have been trying to get admitted for weeks. I had myself court ordered. The admission staff is THE RUDEST MOST NON-HELPFUL bunch U have ever talked to. Never returned phone calls and after SEVERAL attempts they finally told me they couldn't help me. They lied and said they never received my court order. How would they know it was circuit court? I never told them which court it was through. Horrible staff.. I guess since its state run they don't have to care about anyone.

Even today mental health "treatment" is barbaric. Patients are pushed, pinched, slapped and struck in the face, starved, showers are allowed 1-2 times a week if they are lucky. Many patients are misdiagnosed and tricked into taking strong sedatives. Every single person working here is inept and should probably be in jail for abusing the residents. If you think I am making this up take a tour sometime, or just call the payphone in the dayroom and ask someone.

You have to make sure you have a appointment with the director of the hospital and they will sometimes be considerate to make a hour or so to get a visit with the patient. The hospital staff is not bad. Can't say anything about the Tech's.

I feel like the nursing staff picks on the patients. My brother gets wrote up and they put him on restriction for having temporal lobe seizures. I know the nurses have bad days everyone does including the patients but that's no excuse to mistreat patients with mental illness.
