I'm very disappointed that a facility that specializes in neurological care does not require staff and visitors alike to wear masks. We are still in a pandemic, and worse, there is currently a COVID surge in the Bay Area. These are some of the most vulnerable people in society and yet Sutter and many of the staff do not feel that they are worth protecting? Are Sutter and its staff ignorant of the neurological damage COVID can cause, or do they simply not care about their patients? Either way, it doesn't inspire confidence. I would say maybe a quarter of the nurses my dad had in the ICU were wearing masks. Literally no one should be allowed in an ICU without masks. Ever. Why put patients at extra risk? Patients who've had brain trauma, especially. It makes no sense. Apparently, the medical community just accepts that half their patients will develop pneumonia, but they don't care to help mitigate it? At any given time, about 30% of people are carrying Staphylococcus Aureus, a bacteria that causes pneumonia, staph infection, endocarditis, meningitis, etc. Masks are an incredibly effective way to mitigate this, but Sutter and its staff would rather extend patients' stay at the hospital and risk worse outcomes by getting them sicker? It simply does not make sense for health facilities not to care about public health and the health of their patients. Staff themselves would also get sick less often if they took this incredibly easy precaution. Health care in the US is just such a joke.

Thank you to those individuals who are caring for their patients even when it is unpopular amongst their colleagues.

There was also an issue while my dad was a patient here where there was no one around to help him to the bathroom. Allowing an already suicidal patient to suffer this indignity was very upsetting to him and us. I think they needed a second person but it is beyond me why they preferred to simply clean up the mess over helping their patient.

Staff also lost one of his items.

Parking at this hospital is expensive. They allow you to get "validated," however, that only takes off a small percentage of the exorbitant cost.
